James Drew is a partner in the Restructuring and Insolvency group. Mr. Drew has over fifteen years of experience representing clients in a wide array of insolvency-related matters, with a particular focus on “conflicts counsel” roles involving litigation of debtor and creditor rights on behalf of companies or indenture trustee and/or investigations of potential claims and causes of action. He also has broad experience advising trade creditors and contract counterparties in chapter 11 cases.
Among his recent notable representations, Mr. Drew advised the prepetition secured lender and DIP lender in the chapter 11 cases of a Texas-based alumina producer, resulting in the successful resolution of complex claims and purchase of substantially all assets of the debtor. Other engagements of note include representing clients in connection with membership on several official committees of unsecured creditors in large chapter 11 cases.
Mr. Drew’s cross-border experience includes serving as counsel to joint liquidators appointed in the British Virgin Islands on behalf of certain “feeder” investment funds with respect to litigation and claims matters in the United States.
