Elisa Botero is an associate in the International Corporate group. She has significant experience in structuring, drafting, and negotiating multi-million international deals, including project development and financing transactions, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestitures, supply agreements and other commercial contracts with particular emphasis in the oil and gas sector. A native Colombian, Ms. Botero works seamlessly in Spanish and English and is skilled at addressing complex multi-jurisdictional issues.
Ms. Botero started her career at Curtis as part of the International Arbitration group, where she represented sovereign states and state entities in various multi-million international arbitration proceedings commenced by foreign investors questioning the validity of local regulations and governmental actions under bilateral investment treaties and international law.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Botero worked for the Inter-American Development Bank, where she advised trade ministries across Latin America on export promotion and investment attraction strategies and policies. She also interned for the Working Group for the UNIDROIT Principles on International Commercial Contracts at the UNIDROIT's headquarters in Rome.
