Mr. DeSmyter is an associate in the Corporate and Oil and Gas groups. He has a broad range of experience in international corporate transactions with a concentration in the investment management and oil and gas practice areas.
Mr. DeSmyter’s practice focuses on the representation of U.S. and foreign investment management clients in relation to the structuring, formation and ongoing regulatory compliance of private equity funds and hedge funds. His practice also involves general corporate and commercial matters and intellectual property.
He has also advised international clients in connection with oil and gas projects, including the development and drafting of regulations, research and analysis of market structures and participants, the development and negotiation of public bid tenders for oil and gas reserves, and the formation and operation of state-owned entities for oil and gas operations.
Mr. DeSmyter has previously worked as an intern in the Computer Crimes Unit of the United States Attorney’s Office in the District of Massachusetts.
