Mehdi Al Lawati is an counsel in the Corporate group. He focuses his practice on corporate and commercial matters, with a particular emphasis on setting up various types of companies, share transfer, due-diligence and security documents (such as commercial, legal mortgages and share pledge). He is also counsel in Curtis’ associated local Omani firm, Mehdi Al Lawati Law Office (“MALO”), through which the firm provides local and international clients with advocacy services in the local courts.
In addition, Mr. Al Lawati is involved in interacting with various Ministries and governmental authorities. His experience includes establishing companies under the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), consultancy professional companies, branches for foreign entities, commercial representative offices and obtaining mining and industrial licenses.
Mr. Al Lawati has extensive experience advising on corporate and commercial transactions and corporate governance matters, as well as acting as legal counsel for international and local companies in their Constitutive General Meetings, Annual General Meetings and Extraordinary General Meetings.
Prior to joining Curtis, he worked at a major Omani law firm for six years.
