Stephen Duffy Returns to Curtis as Senior Counsel in Houston

 

New York, NY, June 9, 2015 – Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP has announced that Stephen W. Duffy has re-joined the international law firm as Senior Counsel in its Houston office. 

Mr. Duffy had most recently served as Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer for Kraton Polymers, an NYSE-listed global chemical enterprise doing business in more than 60 countries, from 2008 through 2014. 

He previously was Of Counsel to Curtis from 2005 to 2008 during which time he oversaw a number of major transactions, including the purchase of the Houston Comets WNBA team and the sale of Paramount Petroleum.

"Steve Duffy provides significant legal experience in virtually all aspects of the energy and chemical businesses, including domestic, global, public and privateconcerns, with a heavy emphasis on commercial transactions," said Joseph D. Mr.Duffy has actively practiced law since 1979, with particular emphasis on mergers, acquisitions, commercial transactions, litigation management, public offerings, infrastructure development and internal compliance programs in the energy and chemical sectors.

In addition to his time at Curtis and Kraton Polymers, Mr. Duffy's past experience includes chief legal officer positions with Paramount Petroleum Corp. (a leading independent refiner and marketer of asphalt products in the western United States during his tenure); Breck Operating Corp. (engaged primarily incrude oil and natural gas exploration and production in North America); EnronOil Trading & Transportation Company/EOTT Energy Partners (formerly one ofthe largest purchasers of lease crude oil production in the U.S.); and KoSaB.V. (one of the world's largest producers of polyester).

Mr.Duffy earned his J.D. degree from SMU Law School and his A.B. from Duke University.
