Eighth Circuit Cites Curtis Partner Jacques Semmelman's Law Review Article
In a decision issued February 25, 2010, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit cited Jacques Semmelman's law review article, "The Doctrine of Specialty in the Federal Courts: Making Sense of United States v. Rauscher, 34 Va. J. Int'l L. 71 (1993)". The Court cited the article for basic historical information about the doctrine of specialty, an in personam jurisdictional doctrine that, in its basic form, limits the prosecution of persons following extradition to the charges for which the foreign government granted extradition. The case is United States v. Lomeli, 596 F.3d 496 (8th Cir. 2010). Four of Mr. Semmelman's law review articles have been cited in federal circuit court opinions.
