Steven J. Reisman, Partner (New York), Appointed Vice-Chair of Reorganization and Workouts Committee of International Bar Association’s Legal Practices Division, Invited to Co-Chair Session at Annual Conference

Partner Steven Reisman was appointed Vice-Chair of the Reorganization and Workouts Committee of the Legal Practices Division of the International Bar Association (“IBA”) for the 2010 term. In his capacity as Vice-Chair, Reisman was invited to co-chair the “Deal or No Deal – Hard Choices for Troubled Businesses” session at the 2010 IBA Conference in Vancouver on October 5, 2010.
Reisman will co-chair the event with IBA Corporate and M&A Committee Vice Chair Samuel Nolen, a corporate law and litigation partner in Richards, Layton & Finger's Delaware office. The session will include a number of esteemed panelists, including Chief Justice Myron T. Steele of the Delaware Supreme Court; James Sprayregen, co-head of Kirkland & Ellis LLP’s Restructuring Group and former co-head of Goldman Sach’s Restructuring Group; David Kurtz, Managing Director of Lazard Ltd.’s Restructuring Group; and Paul White, corporate partner and Chairman of A&L Goodbody in Dublin, Ireland. Topics to be addressed at the session will include:
- Prepackaged and prearranged restructurings- the new trend;
- Out of court vs. in court restructurings;
- Duties owed to creditors under Delaware law as compared to laws of other jurisdictions, including in the E.U.;
- International restructurings and cross-border protocols; and
- Options for financing an insolvency proceeding.
