Curtis Promotes Two International Arbitration Attorneys to Counsel

January 28, 2011 – Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Brown de Vejar and Jennifer Morrison as counsel in its Mexico City and London affiliates, respectively. Both attorneys are specialized in international arbitration, one of Curtis' core practice areas.

"Kate and Jennifer deserve this recognition even though they have been with the Firm for a relatively short time," said Curtis chairman George Kahale III.  "They have bright futures in international arbitration."

Ms. Brown de Vejar has experience in international disputes across a wide range of sectors, including construction, financial services, oil and gas, mining, transport and telecommunications, in both the commercial sphere and under a variety of international treaties, including the Energy Charter Treaty, the North American Free Trade Agreement and numerous bilateral investment treaties. She is also a member of the Australian delegation to UNCITRAL Working Group II, recently charged with revising the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

Ms. Morrison is involved in both commercial and investor-state arbitration, handling both commercial cases and cases under various bilateral investment treaties in such sectors as oil and gas, mining, agro-business, construction and transportation.  She is a lecturer in the undergraduate and graduate programs at Yeditepe Law School in Istanbul. She currently teaches courses on the common law of contracts and international commercial arbitration.

Curtis' international arbitration practice continues to expand and now handles many of the world's largest and most significant investor-state arbitrations.
