Curtis Advises Glencore International plc on U.S. Legal Matters in Acquisition of Viterra Inc.


New York, December 21, 2012 –  Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP advised Glencore International plc on U.S. legal and regulatory matters in its US$6.2 billion acquisition of Canadian agri-products supplier and grain handler Viterra Inc.  The transaction closed on December 17.

The acquisition reinforces Glencore International's position as one of the world's leading commodity suppliers, giving Swiss-based Glencore immediate critical mass in the key grain markets of North America through Viterra's substantial Canadian operations.  Viterra also materially expands Glencore's existing operations in Australia.
