The $6.1 Billion Acquisition of Viterra by Glencore was chosen as the Corporate & Strategic Acquisition of the Year (Over $1 Billion). The acquisition reinforces Glencore International’s position as one of the world’s leading commodity suppliers, giving Swiss-based Glencore immediate critical mass in the key grain markets of North America through Viterra’s substantial Canadian operations. The Curtis team counseling Glencore in this acquisition included partners Matias Vega and Jeffrey Ostrager, counsels Raymond T. Hum and  Susana Namnum, and associates Ryan Hansen, Martin Brown and Kreg Katoski (all from the Corporate group); partner Jeffrey Zuckerman and associate Ross Bidlingmaier (Antitrust/Competition) and partner James Durling (International Trade); partner Andrew Otis (Environmental); counsel Kuang-Chu Chiang and associate Rebecca Gidel (Tax); counsel Catherine Baecher (Real Estate), and partner Javier Hernandez (Employee Benefits).

The Acquisition of Eclipse Therapeutics by Bionomics Ltd. Was chosen as the M&A Deal of the Year (between $10 million and $50 million). As a result of the deal, Bionomics will gain an important strategic base in the United States, the world's largest pharmaceutical market, with the acquisition.  The addition of Eclipse will expand Bionomics’ oncology pipeline and establish the company as a global leader at the forefront of cancer stem cell therapeutics. The Curtis team  was led by partner Lawrence Goodman and associates Douglas Glazer and Joshua Holt from the Corporate M&A group, partner Alan Berlin and counsel Kuang-Chu Chiang from the Tax group, and counsel Eric Stenshoel from the Intellectual Property practice.
