Curtis Promotes Claudia Frutos-Peterson to Partner in International Arbitration in Washington

 

Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP has announced that Claudia Frutos-Peterson has been elected a partner of the international law firm. Dr. Frutos-Peterson, who had been international counsel, has focused her practice on investor-state arbitration.  She leads the firm’s International Arbitration team in Washington, D.C.

“Claudia has been a valuable member of our International Arbitration group, playing a significant role in a number of high-stakes cases,” said firm chairman George Kahale III.  “We are very pleased to recognize her contributions to the firm and our clients.”

Before joining Curtis in 2009, Dr. Frutos-Peterson was counsel at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).  During her 8 years at ICSID, she served as Secretary of Tribunals for more than 35 arbitral proceedings brought under the ICSID Convention and the ICSID Additional Facility Mechanism.

Dr. Frutos-Peterson serves as an Adjunct Professor at the American University Washington College of Law in Washington D.C., where she lectures on international commercial arbitration and investor-state arbitration. She is also a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars in the United States and abroad, and has authored the book “L'émergence de l'arbitrage commercial international en Amérique latine: l'efficacité de son droit.”

Her academic achievements include degrees from Georgetown University Law Center (LL.M. in International Legal Studies, with honors); Université de Paris-Panthéon-Sorbonne I (Doctorate in Law, summa cum laude and Masters in International Economic Law) and Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Facultad de Derecho, magna cum laude (Licenciatura).
