L. P. Harrison 3rd (New York), makes a presentation at NYU Law School on the topic of Sovereign Debt

Curtis partner L. P. Harrison 3rd made a presentation at NYU Law School on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 on the topic of Sovereign Debt. The presentation focused on the causes of the current European sovereign debt crisis, the issues faced by the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, as well as the global impact of the crisis. Specifically, Mr. Harrison discussed the legal issues that arise in a restructuring between a sovereign and its creditors in the absence of formal restructuring frameworks. Mr. Harrison outlined various aspects of several proposed sovereign debt restructuring mechanisms currently being considered which contain features similar to certain provisions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
