Emily M. Belic is an associate in Curtis’ New York office. Her practice encompasses a broad range of complex litigation matters including representing sovereign states and state-owned entities in transnational disputes; private-sector clients in commercial litigation matters; and criminal defense.

Ms. Belic has experience litigating in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Prior to joining Curtis, Ms. Belic served as a law clerk to the Honorable Terrence Haas, Presiding Judge of the Fourth Judicial District in Bethel, Alaska, where she drafted decisions and conferred with the judge on complex and often novel issues involving civil and sovereign rights.

While in law school, Ms. Belic served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Marsha S. Berzon of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also served as a student attorney with the Boston University School of Law International Human Rights Clinic, where she engaged in international advocacy efforts through the United Nations human rights bodies.

Ms. Belic maintains an active pro bono practice focused on human rights and indigent defense.
