Iyad Arar’s substantive areas of experience include international law and corporate law. He has been involved in numerous investor-state arbitrations conducted under the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) rules, as well as commercial arbitrations under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Mr. Arar is trained in both civil and common law. Prior to joining Curtis, Mr. Arar worked as a litigation attorney in Damascus, Syria, where he represented clients in real estate and partnership agreement disputes.

Mr. Arar is fluent in English and Arabic, and regularly consults with clients and conducts legal research in those languages.

Recent experience includes working in ICSID and UNCITRAL arbitrations involving African and Middle Eastern governments.
