Arianna Sánchez’s practice focuses primarily on international arbitration and corporate transactions.

International Arbitration

Ms. Sánchez’s wide-ranging international arbitration experience includes multiple complex investor-state disputes under the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and high-valued international commercial arbitrations under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), involving long-term energy contracts, joint venture agreements, and construction and transportation contracts, among others. Ms. Sánchez was part of the Curtis team that secured the largest ICSID annulment award to date of US$1.4 billion. Most recently, she was a key part of the Curtis team that represented a state-owned oil company in its defeat of a US$1.5 billion ICC claim alleging expropriation of an offshore oil project. Ms. Sánchez has represented governments and state-owned entities in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.

Corporate

On the corporate side, Ms. Sánchez's experience spans an array of international corporate transactions (representing both issuers and underwriters) in connection with debt capital markets transactions and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, as well as drafting and negotiation of oil and gas contracts.

Academic and Professional Distinctions

Dual-qualified in civil law and common law, Ms. Sánchez also holds an advanced degree in economics from Stanford University where she was a Fulbright scholar.

Before joining Curtis, Ms. Sánchez taught at the Instituto de Empresa in Spain.
