Antonio M. Prida, the founding partner of the Mexico City office, has a practice that spans a wide range of Mexican and international matters, including corporate, commercial, finance and securities, labor, asset structuring for high-net-worth individuals and alternative dispute resolutions mechanisms.

Corporate and Commercial

Mr. Prida has advised Mexican and foreign investors, lenders and creditors on debt and equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, leasing transactions, real estate transactions, joint ventures, transfer of technology and distribution agreements, private equity and venture capital. His practice includes work in sectors such as banking and finance, food and beverages, hotel and lodging, manufacturing, industrial machinery, construction, life sciences, shipping, transportation and entertainment.

Alternative Dispute Resolutions Mechanisms

Mr. Prida maintains a local and international mediation practice related with commercial, civil, family and social matters, including disputes related with inheritances. Antonio currently serves as President of ICC Mexico’s Mediation Committee.

Mr. Prida chaired the mediation panel which resolved an ongoing dispute between the Mexican unions and workers associations related to the national flag carrier, Mexicana de Aviación, which has been in bankruptcy since 2010. It was called by the Mexican Procurator for the Defense of Workers, and the mediation agreement was signed by the parties before the Minister of Labor.

Thought Leadership

In 2008 Mr. Prida was appointed as the Minister in Europe by ProMexico, the government-run institution responsible for strengthening Mexico’s participation in the international economy. As Regional Director for Europe 1 (primarily Western Europe), he was responsible for opening and supervising its offices in Brussels, The Hague, London, Madrid, Milan and Paris. He has been a professor of Public International Law at the Escuela Libre de Derecho, of Securities Law at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, and of Doing Business in Mexico at the Western State University of California. Mr. Prida has participated as a speaker on legal and financial topics in Mexico, the U.s. and Europe, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris, the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in Zurich, the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, the British Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, the South Texas College of Law, the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City, among others. He has also written over 200 articles in Mexican and international journals and newspapers on legal and financial topics and currently has a bi-weekly column at El Semanario digital newspaper in Mexico.

Professional Activities

Member of the teaching staffs of the Master Degree on ADR Mechanisms of the Escuela Libre de Derecho (Mexico), the Mexican Academy of Private International and Compared Law and the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Advisor to the Mexican Ministry of Economy for the preparation of the draft of the General Law of ADR Mechanisms and the new Chapter of the Commercial Code on Commercial Conciliation.

Advisor to the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations for the subscription of the U.N. Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting for Mediation.
