Daniel Porter is Chair of the Curtis International Trade practice and has more than 30 years of experience defending exporters, importers and foreign governments in trade disputes. Market Leading Practice Defending Against U.S. Trade Disputes

Mr. Porter has extensive experience defending foreign governments, exporters, and U.S. importers in trade remedy cases, such as antidumping, subsidies (CVD), safeguard, circumvention, Section 232 and Section 301. Mr. Porter helps clients to have the case dismissed, or to minimize the duties.

Mr. Porter’s work encompasses full defense representation in litigation and investigations before domestic regulators, and particularly the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). He has assisted and defended numerous clients in multiple countries around the world, including Argentina, Canada, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Oman, Russia, Spain and Thailand. When needed, Mr. Porter is also particularly skilled at undertaking court appeals in order to change Commerce Department and ITC determinations.

World Trade Organization (WTO) Work

Mr. Porter’s practice also includes assisting governments prosecute and defend WTO cases. Mr. Porter combines deep technical and policy knowledge to provide a broad range of services in connection with the WTO and international dispute settlement

Mr. Porter also assists those clients in mergers and acquisitions transactions seeking to obtain a better handle on possible risk of disruption caused by international trade disputes and regulation.
