Mr. Harrison has extensive experience in insolvency-related matters, including workouts, reorganizations, and liquidations on behalf of debtors, creditors and trustees. Clients include foreign and domestic, public and private corporations, financial institutions, underwriters, and governmental creditors, in chapter 11 reorganizations, chapter 15 ancillary proceedings, structured financings, distressed trades, asset and stock sales, and acquisitions. Mr. Harrison led the insolvency aspects of the Firm’s representation of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., and its affiliates, the largest and most complex chapter 11 case ever filed. He has also served as trustee in numerous insolvency cases.
Highlights of Mr. Harrison's practice include his key role in the Firm’s representation of a Mexican government development bank, in connection with the insolvency proceedings of Abengoa S.A., the largest energy company in Spain. Mr. Harrison also represents the Insolvency Administrator of a German consumer products producer in regard to the Administrator's chapter 15 cases in the U.S. Past representations include the Italian Extraordinary Administrator of Parmalat S.p.A., a multinational dairy and food conglomerate, in restructuring several of the company’s subsidiaries in the United States and Latin America. Mr. Harrison also counseled the foreign representative of Gruppo Covarra S.A. de C.V., the first successful ancillary proceeding initiated by a “sindico” (a Mexican liquidator) in the United States since the enactment of Mexico's insolvency law, the Ley de Concurso Mercantiles.
Mr. Harrison is a frequent lecturer and writer on international and domestic insolvency issues. He has spoken throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. Mr. Harrison has been a featured commentator for Forbes Magazine in the United States and Phoenix TV InfoNews Channel in China, and has been quoted by leading industry publications, including the Wall Street Journal.
Legal 500 USA has for many years recognized Mr. Harrison for his role in Curtis’ Restructuring and Insolvency practice. In 2014, the guide noted he “combines keen intelligence and high technical knowledge with warm client-handling skills.” In Legal 500’s most recent 2017 edition, Mr. Harrison was praised by clients as “a very safe pair of hands and a supportive, proactive member of the multi-jurisdictional team.” He has also been cited by Chambers USA for his work in the Lehman chapter 11 proceedings.
