Curtis Advises Kazakhstan in New Agreement to Advance Kashagan Project


Astana, Kazakhstan, December 18, 2014 – The firm advised the Republic of Kazakhstan in connection with a settlement agreement on December 13 with the consortium developing the Kashagan oil and gas field.

The consortium consists of Agip Caspian Sea B.V., CNPC Kazakhstan B.V., ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc., Inpex North Caspian Sea, Ltd, KMG Kashagan B.V., Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V. and Total E&P Kazakhstan. The Kashagan field is one of the largest oil discoveries of the last 40 years.

The agreement settled a number of operational, financial and environmental matters that have arisen over the last several years. The terms of the agreement are confidential.
