Steven Reisman Named Restructuring Lawyer of the Year


New York, NY, June 29, 2015 – Steven J. Reisman, co-chair of the Restructuring & Insolvency group at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, was named Restructuring Lawyer of the Year by the Global M&A Network at the annual Turnaround Atlas Awards Gala on June 23.

He received the prestigious and highly-competitive honor for achieving outstanding results for clients in some of the largest and most complex corporate bankruptcies and insolvency matters, both domestically and globally.

Mr. Reisman was also named again as one of the Top 100 Restructuring & Turnaround Professionals in 2015, an honor he has received for each of the past three years.

The annual Top 100 list features “the most accomplished, brilliant and innovative consultants, investment bankers and lawyers from the global restructuring, distressed M&A, bankruptcy and insolvency industries. Inclusion in the list is an acknowledgement of the firm-wide team expertise, unique capabilities and the firm’s preeminent status for consistently advising on restructuring transactions and assignments to effect value creating outcomes.”

Four Restructuring & Insolvency matters in which Mr. Reisman and Curtis played a major role were also honored at the 2015 Turnaround Atlas Award Gala:

  • Pre-package Restructuring of the Year (Restructuring value above $1 billion) - Genco Shipping & Trading restructuring. Curtis served as conflicts counsel to the Debtors.


  • Insolvency of the Year - Coldwater Creek Chapter 11 Plan of Liquidation and sale of assets. Curtis represented a joint venture between Gordon Brothers and Hilco Retail Partners, which liquidated the assets and assisted in the transfer of the intellectual property.


  • Consumer Goods Turnaround of the Year - Clearlake Capital Group acquisition of Ashley Stewart under Chapter 11 auction. Curtis represented the Debtor, Ashley Stewart, in gaining approval of the sale of its assets in 43 days.


  • Turnaround of the Year (Large Markets) (Restructuring value $2.5 to 10 billion in or out of court) - Momentive Performance Materials Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization. Curtis represented Wilmington Trust, as indenture trustee to 10% Senior Secured Notes in an original principal amount of $250 million.
