Beijing, January 2, 2019 – Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of Ron Xie as a partner in the firm’s Beijing office, where he will work closely with all of the firm’s practice groups and offices to support key clients and expand the firm’s presence in East Asia.

Mr. Xie has more than 20 years of experience advising clients on corporate transactions and disputes, international trade, competition law and regulatory matters, as well as in complex litigations and arbitrations. He joins Curtis from Gaopeng & Partners in Beijing, where he was a senior partner. Previously, he acted as General Manager and head counsel for litigation, antitrust & policies at Microsoft China, as managing partner and co-founder of one of the earliest private law firms licensed by the Ministry of Justice of China, and as a legal officer for international trade at China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), for a total of six years. While at MOFCOM, Mr. Xie also acted as senior partner at MOFCOM’s Great Wall Law Office.

His clients include numerous Fortune 500 companies operating within and outside of China, as well as leading technology firms, start-ups and private clients engaged in a wide range of sectors, technology, global shipping and insurance, agriculture, investment banking, oil and gas, precious metals, nuclear, manufacturing, infrastructure, pharmaceutical, and private equity.

“We are delighted to welcome Ron Xie to the Curtis partnership in our Beijing office,” said Curtis Managing Partner Matias A. Vega. “His unique blend of experience in China and internationally is a natural fit for Curtis. He is a proven leader and the ideal candidate for his new role.”

A Chinese national, Mr. Xie is fluent in Mandarin and English, and is admitted to practice in China and Ontario, Canada. He completed his undergraduate and post-graduate studies in law from the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing, and also holds a Juris Doctor degree from Queen’s University at Kingston in Canada.
