Shaya Rochester Joins Curtis as Partner in Restructuring and Insolvency


New York, March 24, 2014 - Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP has announced that Shaya Rochester has joined the international law firm as a partner in its Restructuring and Insolvency practice group.  He will be based in the firm’s New York office.

Mr. Rochester, who had been senior counsel at Akin Gump and was previously at Davis Polk & Wardwell, focuses his practice on corporate restructuring and bankruptcy law.

He brings to Curtis a wide range of experience in Chapter 11 bankruptcies representing official and informal creditors' committees, debtors, indenture trustees, bondholders, banks and liquidation trustees in both in-court and out-of-court restructurings.  Mr. Rochester also provides risk management and bankruptcy counsel to clients covering a broad array of industries such as tobacco, energy and telecommunications.

Mr. Rochester’s representation of debtors and creditors in major Chapter 11 cases includes Edison Mission Energy, Tribune Company, Six Flags Operations, Spansion Inc., Inner City Media, Calpine Corp., Pipeline Data, VeraSun Energy, Aventine Renewable Energy, Propex Fabrics and IdleAire Technologies.

Shaya Rochester earned his J.D. in 2002 from the Washington University School of Law and his B.A. cum laude from Yale University in 1997. He is a member of the New York State Bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He also serves as a member of the Eliezer Board of Trustees.
