Curtis Partner and Environmental Chair Charlie Howland spoke on a panel at the Green Hydrogen Global Assembly and Exhibition in Barcelona on May 18, 2022. The event was jointly sponsored by the Spanish government and the Green Hydrogen Organization (“GH2O”). The panel, comprising members of the GH2O’s “Good Green Hydrogen Contracting Working Group,” discussed the content of the Working Group’s just released Green Hydrogen Contracting for People and Planet Guidance. Mr. Howland spoke specifically on how green hydrogen projects can further certain United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the status of green hydrogen projects under U.S. law and policy.
Mr. Howland and Curtis Counsel Susan Maples have been members of and contributors to the Green Hydrogen Contracting working group since its inception, and will continue to support its work going forward, with particular focus on sustainable infrastructure development and use, project fiscal terms and finance, regulatory development, and community engagement. An overview of the guidance is available here, and a consultation version of the guidance and background material is available for review and public comment here.
