Claudia Frutos-Peterson Moderates IBA Roundtable on Privilege

On 17 October 2025, Partner Claudia Frutos-Peterson moderated an International Bar Association (IBA) Roundtable on Privilege in Cairo, Egypt. Hosted by Ibrahim Shehata of Shehata & Partners Law Firm in Cairo, the Roundtable brought together leading counsel, arbitrators, judges, and in-house lawyers in the region to discuss the forthcoming IBA Guidelines on Privilege and Attorney Secrecy in International Arbitration.

The IBA Guidelines aim to be the first widely-adopted international soft law instrument to provide uniform rules and choice of law guidelines for disputes over privilege in international arbitration. A draft of the Guidelines will be available for public comment in late 2025, with the final version to be published after incorporating feedback received during the public comment process.

Claudia Frutos-Peterson is the co-chair of the IBA Privilege Project, together with Maxi Scherer of ArbBoutique and Joongi Kim of Yonsei Law School. Curtis Associate Marija Ozolins and Russell Childree of WilmerHale are Secretaries to the IBA Committee overseeing the drafting process.
