Event 14 Oct. 2026
Curtis Washington, D.C. Managing Partner Claudia Frutos-Peterson and Associate Marija Ozolins will be speaking at the 7th Edition of Washington Arbitration Week, taking place October 26-30, 2026, while Partner Borzu Sabahi is a member of the Advisory Committee.
Claudia Frutos-Peterson will be speaking on the panel, 'Challenging the Tribunal — Bias, Diversity, Jurisdiction, and Judicial Intervention in Investment Arbitration,' which will address the debate on arbitrator impartiality, jurisdictional overreach, and the limits of judicial intervention. The panelists will evaluate a variation of rulings and what they mean in practice: how lawyers vet and challenge arbitrators, how tribunals decide whether they have the authority to hear a case, and how parties choose where to arbitrate with the risk of a later court challenge in mind. This panel is taking place Tuesday, October 27, 2026 · 10:25 AM – 11:40 AM EDT.
Associate Marija Ozolins is participating in the panel on 'Building the Next Generation of Arbitration Leaders: Practical Skills, Mentorship, Sponsorship, and Career Advancement,' taking place Friday, October 30, 2026 · 12:10 PM – 1:25 PM EDT. The panelists will discuss how they navigated progressing a career in the field of international arbitration.
