New York, March 5, 2014 — International law firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP has announced the promotions of Joshua S. Geller and Shaun Reader to counsel. Both lawyers are based in the firm's New York office.
“We are very pleased to promote both Josh Geller and Shaun Reader to counsel at Curtis as a reflection of their many contributions to the firm,” said Curtis managing partner Matias A. Vega. “We look forward to each taking on an even greater role in handling important legal matters for our clients.
Joshua Geller practices in the firm's Mergers & Acquisitions and Investment Management groups. He focuses on representing public and private companies in domestic and cross-border corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings and financings, with significant experience in matters related to distressed companies. Mr. Geller also advises companies on general commercial and corporate governance matters. Mr. Geller has particular experience with transactions involving commodities trading organizations (both physical commodities and commodities derivatives). Mr. Geller also has advised U.S. and foreign professional investment managers in structuring U.S. and offshore investment vehicles and in ongoing U.S. regulatory compliance.His pro bono work includes ongoing general representation of American Friends of Shalva, which raises funds for mentally and physically challenged Israeli children. .Mr. Geller received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Yeshiva University. Shaun Reader, a member of the firm's Investment Management group, concentrates on the international and domestic legal aspects of professional investment management. He also screens, structures and forms U.S. and offshore investment funds, including private equity funds, hedge funds, real estate funds and venture capital funds.Mr. Reader's experience includes conducting due diligence on potential investments into alternative investment vehicles; advising on and negotiating the terms, rights and obligations relating to investments in and the operation and management of investment funds from both an investor perspective and an investment manager perspective; and developing structural solutions and other arrangements to accommodate various business, legal and regulatory considerations.Mr. Reader also leads the firm's annual Movember charitable campaign whereby Curtis attorneys and staff are encouraged to grow moustaches to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues. Mr. Reader has served on the firm's Opinions and Personnel committees.Mr. Reader earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, and his B.S., cum laude, from Arizona State University.
