Curtis Secures Victory for Republic of Indonesia

Washington - On December 5th, 2016, a three-member Arbitral Tribunal of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes rendered a final award dismissing all claims brought by Churchill Mining Plc and Planet Mining Pty Ltd against the Republic of Indonesia. In its award, the Tribunal also ordered Churchill and Planet to pay to the Republic all ICSID costs (US$800,000) plus expenses in the amount of US$8,646,528. Claimants had sought damages of US$1.31 billion.

The Curtis team representing the Republic of Indonesia in this case included Washington office managing partner Claudia Frutos-Peterson, New York partner Mark O’Donoghue, Marat Umerov and Christina Trahanas.
