Curtis is pleased to announce the appointment of experienced international tax lawyer Daniel Lewin as a partner in the firm’s London office.
The arrival of a UK qualified international tax lawyer is the ideal complement to the thriving London corporate and private client teams. Mr. Lewin’s ability to advise on both UK domestic and international transactions and structures deepens the firm’s capabilities in advising both corporate and private clients.
Mr. Lewin’s appointment also boosts the firm’s highly regarded international investment management team, which focuses on private equity, venture capital, sovereign wealth funds and high net worth clients. Mr. Lewin is highly regarded for his work advising sponsors, investors and investment funds on tax optimization, fund formation, structuring and all aspects of international investment management. He frequently advises UK-based and international clients – including U.S. investors in particular – on foreign tax issues as well as domestic and international requirements.
Mr. Lewin also brings strong experience implementing tax efficient financing structures and strategies for mitigating withholding taxes on a broad range of financings, from domestic and international loans, to real estate financings, securitisations, structured financings, treaty relief and subsidiary structures.
Before joining Curtis, Mr. Lewin headed the tax group at the London headquartered asset management consultancy MJ Hudson.
Mr. Lewin comments “Curtis’ highly evolved international tax and investment management teams will extend the support for my clients within Europe, while allowing me to deepen my U.S. focused practice. I’m excited to begin working with my new colleagues in London, New York and beyond.”
Marco Blanco, co-chair of Curtis’ international tax practice, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Daniel to the European team. His client focus aligns perfectly with our tax, investment management and corporate practices, and positions us for continued growth.”
Mr. Lewin is admitted in England and Wales, and New York, and received his law degree from The London School of Economic and Political Science, with honors, and his LL.M. in International Law from Georgetown University with distinction. He is fluent in German, English, French and Hebrew.
The announcement is the latest in a string of international hires for the firm in the past two years reflecting its international focus, including corporate partners Tony Edwards and Marc Hammerson from Stephenson Harwood.
