Curtis Supports ABVCAP Mission to Colombia, Bringing Brazilian GPs to Bogotá and Medellín

Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP supported the inBrazil Colombia Mission, a strategic initiative organized by ABVCAP (the Brazilian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association) and ApexBrasil through their inBrazil program. The mission pursued three core objectives: diversifying LP bases beyond Brazil, building deal pipeline in Colombia, and forging co-investment relationships with Colombian managers to strengthen the private capital industry across the region.

The mission convened five leading Brazilian fund managers across strategies and stages, all actively advancing their internationalization into Latin American markets beyond Brazil:

  • Bewater is a venture capital and growth equity manager focused on expansion-stage technology companies across Latin America. The firm takes a concentrated, hands-on approach with founders, prioritizing companies with proven traction and validated business models.
  • Confrapar is one of Brazil’s leading technology investment firms, with a portfolio of more than 20 companies across 11 funds. Focused on venture capital and growth equity with a PE-like approach, it invests in scalable, Latin American technology businesses and takes an active role in portfolio governance and expansion.
  • Mago Capital is a hybrid venture capital firm backed by the founders of Locaweb, a publicly listed Brazilian technology company. Mago combines fund-of-funds allocations to top emerging VC managers with direct Series A investments, applying a data-driven, analytical approach to portfolio construction.
  • Monashees is one of Latin America’s most established early-stage venture capital firms. The firm invests across artificial intelligence, climate tech, fintech, healthcare, enterprise SaaS, and consumer sectors in Latin America and beyond, with 12 funds closed to date.
  • Volpe Capital is an early-growth venture capital firm founded by, former head of SoftBank’s Latin America Fund. The firm invests in high-growth technology and technology-enabled businesses across Latin America, with a focus on SaaS, fintech, and consumer tech.

The mission took place March 9-12 across Bogotá and Medellín. Attorneys Elisa Botero, Pablo Calderon, Agustin Patiño and Susana Echavarria represented Curtis throughout the program’s meetings, panels, and networking events.

An Immersion in Colombia’s Private Markets

In Bogotá, the Curtis team took part in a full agenda of meetings with leading institutional investors, pension funds, family offices, endowments, and development finance institutions. The delegation also attended the ColCapital - Asociación Colombiana de Capital Privado 2026 Congress – Colombia’s premier private equity and venture capital event, bringing together fund managers, family offices, corporates, and investors from across the region.

Curtis and Martínez Quintero Mendoza González Laguado & De La Rosa co-hosted a cocktail reception introducing the Brazilian managers to Colombian family offices, reflecting the mission’s broader goal of building lasting investment relationships between Brazil and Colombia.

In Medellín, meetings with leading corporate venture capital programs and innovation ecosystem players –including two Curtis clients at the forefront of corporate venture in Colombia– rounded out a mission designed to open doors across the full spectrum of Colombia’s private markets.
