Curtis Transaction a Finalist at the 5th Annual International M&A Advisor Awards

The Restructuring of General Maritime has been chosen as a finalist for the Restructuring Deal of the Year and for the Energy Deal of the Year (Over $500 m). Curtis advised General Maritime Corporation and its affiliated debtors as conflicts counsel. In just six months after filing for chapter 11 protection, the company successfully emerged from bankruptcy and restructured more than $1.3 billion in pre-bankruptcy obligations and reduced its debt by $600 million. The Curtis team included counsel Maryann Gallagher and associate Peter J. Buenger from the Restructuring and Insolvency group, as well as associate Jeffrey C. Berman of the Litigation group, and counsel Lizabeth L. Burrell of the Shipping and Maritime group.

The International M&A Advisor Awards recognize the leading cross-border transactions, restructurings, deal financings and deal makers. The winners will be announced at the Awards Gala on May 13, 2013 at the New York Athletic Club.
