Simon Batifort Speaks at 47th Meeting of the International Energy Charter Industry Advisory Panel in Brussels

Partner Simon Batifort will speak at the 47th Meeting of the International Energy Charter Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) on December 4, 2024 in Brussels. His panel will address “Perspectives on Energy Transition Disputes under the Modernised Energy Charter Treaty” and will also include Yuriy Pochtovyk (Acting General Counsel, Energy Charter Secretariat), Barton Legum (Vice Chairperson, Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Board), Crina Baltag (Professor Associate in International Arbitration Law, Stockholm University), and Tomoko Ishikawa (Professor, Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University).

The 47th IAP Meeting will follow the 35th Meeting of the Energy Charter Conference, the highest-decision making body under the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT), during which the Conference is expected to adopt amendments to “modernize” the ECT. A Ministerial Meeting will take place in the morning of December 4 featuring statements by H.E. Dr. Saleh A. Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Chair of the Energy Charter Conference, and by other high-level government officials.

Attendance will include Ambassadors of States, high-level diplomatic representatives, international organizations, energy companies, and veterans of the legal industry.
