Partner Charles Howland to Speak at Two Environmental/Energy Programs in August 2019

On August 5 and 6, 2019, Mr. Howland will be speaking on several panels at the Brightfields 2019 – California conference in Sacramento, addressing legal liability, land use, electricity market, and permitting issues associated with siting renewable energy projects on environmentally impaired lands. The conference is the premier solar energy development event in the west coast, and brings together solar and brownfield developers, regulatory and redevelopment agencies, policy makers and professionals to update them on the latest trends in solar energy project development and site liability and funding issues.

On Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 1pm-2:30pm, Mr. Howland will present a Strafford CLE webinar entitled “Reducing Liability Uncertainty When Redeveloping Environmentally Challenged Property.” The session is designed for in-house real estate and environmental counsel and will provide practical insights into the similarities and differences between federal and state liability protections available under CERCLA, RCRA and their state law counterparts, as well as guidance on best practice for choosing programs to mitigate client exposure and new options for changing authorities mid-project.
