Partner Eric Gilioli awarded Medal for Distinguished Labor by the Republic of Kazakhstan

In recognition of his legal work in the Kazakh oil and gas industry, Eric Gilioli has been awarded a Medal for Distinguished Labor, by Decree of the President of Kazakhstan. Distinguished Labor medals are awarded for labor achievements in economy, the social sphere, science, culture and public service, and this is the first such medal to have been issued to a foreign legal advisor representing the Republic of Kazakhstan. Eric’s achievement is reward for his nearly ten years of work and that of Curtis’ Kazakhstan team on multi-billion dollar transactional and contentious matters relating to the giant Kashagan and Karachaganak oil and gas fields. The medal was awarded in a ceremony at the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan by the First Deputy Minister of Energy, Mahambet Dosmukhambetov.

This medal is the second awarded to Curtis lawyers by the Republic of Kazakhstan in recent years. In 2012, Kazakhstan-based partner Askar Moukhitdinov was awarded, by Decree of the President of Kazakhstan, a “20 Years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan” jubilee medal, which was granted to citizens who had made a significant contribution to the establishment of statehood, the strengthening of sovereignty and to the social and economic development of the Republic.
