Jean-Norbert Pontier represents the rights and interests of a wide variety of domestic and international clients, including investment funds, banks, financial institutions, development finance institutions (DFIs) and service providers involved in trade risk and asset origination and distribution, including on matters from across the spectrum of structured finance transactions and strategic and complex project finance.
Mr. Pontier’s project practice covers a range of multifaceted cross-border transactional and advisory work for sponsors, lenders, investors, credit agencies and service providers across every major industry, including energy and infrastructure, mining, toll roads, stadia, oil and gas and real estate development, and project finance (projects and private-public partnerships). Mr. Pontier’s work in structured finance transactions includes matters involving the debt capital markets, structured finance (repurchase agreements and other asset-based lending arrangements, term asset-backed securitizations, covered bond and conduit transactions), restructuring (of debt for portfolios of energy projects) and the termination of structured finance transactions.
He is also recognized for his pro bono work on impact finance (Social Impact Bonds (SIBs) / Development Impact Bonds (DIBs)) for establishing domestic and international financing solutions.
Mr. Pontier is recognized as a leader in his field by various publications in which he is commonly named among the most highly regarded lawyers in the banking and finance sector.
