Experienced Attorneys

Curtis welcomes experienced attorneys who complement the firm’s culture and approach to serving clients.

Curtis offers lateral partners and counsel the firm’s uniquely collaborative and supportive environment and welcomes their contributions to the professional and intellectual life of the firm. The Curtis lateral recruiting program is directed by a committee of practicing partners who work closely with the firm’s management and recruiting personnel to ensure confidentiality and an expeditious process.

Curtis affords associate laterals the opportunity to hone their legal skills under the guidance and tutelage of some of the most accomplished lawyers in the profession. We staff our client teams leanly, with associates typically working directly with a partner on a matter. This means that associates are given responsibility and authority immediately. Even junior associates work with clients on a day-to-day basis. We are committed to the success of each of our attorneys. We understand that they need a strong support system, yet room to develop on their own to achieve their full potential.

A Collaborative Approach

At Curtis, no lawyer is an island. We emphasize collaboration, not competition. We work in teams that frequently cut across offices and practice groups, and count on a mutually beneficial working relationship among our professionals to produce successful results.

Training and Development

A vigorous training program contributes to the strength of our firm. We devote considerable resources to the legal training and development of our lawyers. Curtis attorneys benefit from comprehensive training opportunities at each stage of their careers, including practical, hands-on workshops. Curtis also has a continuing legal education series that keeps our lawyers apprised of the latest substantive legal developments in each of the firm’s practice areas.

For our experienced lawyers, Curtis provides in-house educational seminars and collaborates with outside vendors for additional training. Ongoing professional training is also available for Curtis attorneys through periodic departmental meetings held to discuss current issues, provide updates in the law, and train new associates.

Judicial Clerks

Curtis welcomes applications from judicial clerks. If you are a judicial clerk, you will be in good company at Curtis. Several of our attorneys have clerked for federal courts of appeals, federal district courts, bankruptcy courts, tax courts and various state courts. Clerkship experience is valued at the firm. Attorneys receive seniority credit for their clerkships and are placed in the appropriate class based on their prior experience. We also award clerkship bonuses that are competitive with those of our peer law firms. Judicial clerks are encouraged to apply after clerkship, or during clerkship if permitted by the judge.
