Curtis Attorneys Teach Sessions at International Law Institute's Training Program on Investor State Arbitration

Curtis attorneys lectured on investor state arbitration at the International Law Institute (ILI)’s annual two-week seminar which took place from November 27 through December 8, 2017. The participants were primarily lawyers working for the following governments: Gibraltar, Kenya, Kuwait, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, United Nations. In addition, private practitioners from Tanzania and the United States participated in the program.

Partner Justin Jacinto covered ICSID and UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules; Partner Borzu Sabahi covered valuation of damages; Senior Counsel Luis Parada covered applicable law; Senior Associate Marat Umerov covered corruption issues in investor state arbitration; Associate Ricardo Mier y Teran served as an arbitrator for the mock arbitration of the program. The ILI is a non-profit organization, which for 60 years has trained government officials on a variety of subjects including international arbitration. Mr. Sabahi is Co-Director of the ILI Investment Law Center.
