August 5, 2008, New York, NY - International law firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP has elected its long-time managing partner, George Kahale III, to the new post of Firm Chairman. Kahale previously headed a three-member management committee that has overseen the Firm's recent international expansion. The other two committee members, Joseph D. Pizzurro and Matias A. Vega, have been named managing partners and will share responsibility for operations in the new management structure. As Chairman, Mr. Kahale will concentrate on policy and strategic planning, a position which will allow him to continue his leadership role while devoting more time to his demanding practice, which was featured in the June issue of The American Lawyer.
Over the last two years, Curtis has opened an office in Istanbul and two offices in Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan, while expanding existing offices in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Muscat. A new office in Dubai has now received all approvals and is scheduled to open in September. Recently, Curtis also announced a strategic alliance with a firm in Buenos Aires for business development in Argentina and the region, where Curtis has maintained its reputation as a leader for over a century.
