Oscar Figueroa Díaz is a dual-trained attorney in civil and common law and an associate in the firm’s International Arbitration and International Litigation groups. He represents sovereign and private clients in international commercial and investment disputes across industries and jurisdictions.
Mr. Figueroa’s experience includes representing sovereign States, State-owned entities, and private companies in investor-State and commercial arbitrations under the ICC, ICSID, and UNCITRAL arbitration rules. His experience also involves multijurisdictional disputes and defending clients in U.S. courts in matters involving the enforcement of arbitral awards and judgments. Additionally, he has assisted private companies and governments in trade remedy proceedings before the U.S. Department of Commerce and International Trade Commission.
Prior to joining Curtis, Mr. Figueroa Díaz completed internships at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). He also worked in the international arbitration and international trade groups of another major law firm.
While in law school, he served as a Staff Editor of the Texas International Law Journal and formed a Texas law team to compete in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Moot team. After law school, he continued serving as a coach of the Texas Law Vis Moot team.
