HOUSTON, February 22, 2010 — Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, a leading international law firm, announced today the addition of Robert H. George as a partner in the firm's Houston office. George joins the Corporate department at Curtis and also will play an important role in the Energy, Finance and Derivatives, Infrastructure Development and Latin America practice groups.

“Robert's arrival significantly enhances our ability to serve clients in key practice areas, particularly those with matters that require Energy, Derivatives, Finance and Latin American expertise,” said Curtis Managing Partner Joseph Pizzurro. “His experience will expand the capabilities of our Houston office and allow us to better serve the needs of our global client base.”

George's practice focuses on corporate transactions within the energy, infrastructure, finance (including structured finance) and commodities industries, with a particular emphasis on transactions in Latin America. He has more than 20 years of experience advising large public and private companies on multibillion-dollar international acquisitions and divestitures, development and financing of infrastructure projects, securitization of financial assets, derivatives trading and settlement and regulatory filings in the United States and abroad.

He joins Curtis from King & Spalding LLP, where he was leading their Latin American efforts from his office in São Paulo, Brazil. Prior to that, he managed the legal issues surrounding one of the few AAA rated derivatives product companies and acted as the chief legal officer for a portfolio of investments indirectly held by Koch Industries, the largest private company in the United States. George received his J.D. and B.A. from the University of Texas and is admitted to practice in both Texas and Brazil (as a foreign legal consultant). He has negotiated contracts in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

“Curtis is well-known as a leading international law firm with strong ties in Latin America and is one of the few firms which has been able to expand its practice while those of others contract,” noted George. “The firm's sterling reputation and commitment to the region and growing presence in Latin American markets that other firms are leaving present exciting opportunities for me and my practice, and I look forward to being a part of the firm's continued success.”

The Curtis Latin America practice is among the largest of any international law firm and has a long-standing history of helping clients achieve successful results in transactions and disputes. One of the first U.S. law firms to establish an office in Mexico City, Curtis is well known throughout Latin America for advising public and private entities in infrastructure development, finance, oil and gas, electricity, minerals, water, agriculture and food products, industrial and consumer products, telecommunications, transportation, media and tourism.
