Helping a Divorcée Get Back to Work

Curtis defended a 53-year-old client in her divorce case before the New York Supreme Court.

Our client had originally filed for divorce in 2009, but the action had been dismissed, owing to certain procedural obstacles. Curtis was retained by the client in early 2017 and within 12 months had brought the divorce to a conclusion, with a judgment in her favor. The judgment incorporated a settlement agreement ordering the defendant to pay our client monthly maintenance payments for a two-year period. These alimony payments helped our client meet her minimum living expenses while getting into full-time employment as a licensed practicing nurse.

The client was referred to Curtis by Her Justice, a non-profit organization centered in New York City that helps underserved women secure legal representation regarding legal issues such as family law and immigration issues.
