Curtis Announces Partner and Counsel Promotions

Gaia Morelli – Corporate, Rome

Gaia Morelli is notable for her breadth of corporate, compliance and M&A experience built over several decades of practice in New York and Italy. Dual-admitted in Italy and the United States, Ms. Morelli advises Italian and international businesses on commercial negotiations, M&A transactions, and a broad range of corporate and compliance matters across sectors including technology, digital markets, luxury and Made in Italy brands, chemicals, renewable energy and automotive. She is a recognized authority at the intersection of corporate law and technology, with deep expertise in data protection, cybersecurity, AI and compliance regulation. Ms. Morelli holds ongoing compliance roles within several European companies, serves as Data Protection Officer for major Italian enterprises. Clients are particularly impressed with her business oriented and pragmatic approach. She is a Recommended Lawyer in Legal 500 EMEA, 2026.

Valerio Salvatori – International Arbitration, Milan Office

Valerio Salvatori is a key member of the International Arbitration practice, with deep expertise in high-profile international arbitrations conducted under the most widely used rules and across a variety of sectors, including energy, infrastructure and tax. Mr. Salvatori has acted in landmark investment treaty and contract cases on behalf of numerous States and State-owned entities, including the Republic of Uganda, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of India, and the United Republic of Tanzania. He has also developed significant expertise in relation to arbitration-related court cases across several jurisdictions, as well as in providing advice on complex public international law and sanctions matters. Mr. Salvatori is ranked by Chambers Global and Europe for International Arbitration and has been recognized as a Recommended Lawyer for Dispute Resolution by Legal 500 EMEA.

Lisa Arpin-Pont –International Arbitration, Paris

Lisa Arpin-Pont advises sovereign States and state-owned entities on complex investment and commercial arbitrations, with a particular focus on public international law. She has extensive experience in high-stakes proceedings under the UNCITRAL, ICSID, SCC and ICC rules. Her practice focuses on the energy and infrastructure sectors, including oil and gas and renewable energy. She has represented sovereign States, including Kazakhstan and Romania, in significant investment treaty and contract cases. She is notable for her public international law experience and is particularly valued by clients for her strategic advisory work at the intersection of international law and public policy. She previously gained experience in-house at leading international institutions, including the ICC Court of Arbitration, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and the European Court of Human Rights. She is fluent in French, English, Russian and Ukrainian.

Robert Groot – Litigation, New York

Robert Groot joined the firm’s litigation department in 2015. His practice spans complex international litigation and arbitration across North America, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Mr. Groot is experienced in construction disputes, and has represented clients on projects ranging from national highway systems and oil & gas facilities to airport terminals. He is well-versed in different types of construction contracts, particularly the FIDIC form contracts. Mr. Groot has also been recognized for his pro bono work advancing equal rights for residents of Puerto Rico, for which he received a motion of recognition from the Puerto Rico House of Representatives. Mr. Groot has practiced before various federal and state courts, and under different arbitration rules such as those of the International Chamber of Commerce, Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and UNCITRAL.
