Curtis Lawyers Present at ILI Program on Investor State Arbitration

Curtis played a leading role in the International Law Institute's training program on International Investment Agreements and Investor State Arbitration held in Washington from December 1-12.

Partner Claudia Frutos-Peterson and associates Borzu Sabahi, Marat Umerov, Kabir Duggal and Diora Ziyaeva led sessions, including one hosted at the Curtis Washington office on Dec. 2, that cover ICSID Rules, applicable law, expropriation, and damages.

Ms. Frutos-Peterson's session addressed the topic of “Applicable Law.” Mr. Umerov's session discussed “ICSID Arbitration Rules and UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.”

Mr. Sabahi is co-director of the ILI International Investment Law Center, which organizes this annual training program.

A wide range of governments participated in the program, including representatives of: Barbados, Egypt, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Uganda, Venezuela and an OPEC fund.
