When importing goods what must be included in customs documentation?

International customs documents vary from country to country, but often include a:

  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • Bill of Lading, and an
  • Arrival Notice

International customs documents, generally speaking, must contain enough information to clearly identify the goods being shipped, their value, origin, destination, and identities of the shipper and receiver. Failure to include this information can result in the goods being seized or returned to the shipper.
